Disabled New Apprentice Wage Scheme Information
Are you looking for an Apprentice or Trainee who is:
A hard and willing worker?
An enthusiastic learner?
Reliable & stable?
Committed to their chosen occupation?
You may have overlooked a group of workers - people with disabilities. People with disabilities CAN and DO make good apprentices and trainees. Just ask any of the 1000 or so employers who take them on each year and they're not just the larger firms. People with disabilities are apprenticed in companies of all sizes, and most employers say they will keep them on after their training has ended.
Disabilities are not handicaps for many apprentices. Some real life examples show that apprentices with a variety of disabilities successfully enter a wide range of trades:
A third year profoundly deaf upholsterer
A second year motor mechanic with cerebral palsy
A third year auto electrician with a leg amputation
Did you know that if you employ an apprentice with a disability you may be eligible for:
A $114.73 per week wage subsidy
Up to $5,000 to modify your workplace
Up to $5,500 in tutorial support per year
Up to $5,500 in interpreting services per year
If you are interested in employing an apprentice with a disability, please contact our professional staff. We can tell you what assistance is available for you and to your apprentice under the Disabled New Apprentice Wage Subsidy Scheme.
