Welcome to Highlands Support Services Inc. - HighAbility. As stated in our Mission Statement, one of the services we provide is training, both accredited and non-accredited. As a Registered Training Organisation (RTO), we provide Accredited Training. Accredited Training is where the student receives a certificate or qualification that is recognised nationally.
Note:
If you become a student of HighAbility - Training Services - this does not mean that you are automatically a client of Highlands Personnel - the employment service of Highlands Support Services Inc. You are only a client of Highlands Personnel if you are registered with them.

 | COMMUNITY JOBS PROJECT (TRAINING COMPONENT)
Participants in the Community Jobs Project (CJP) will receive accredited training from HighAbility. This training will involve a combination of on-the-job and off-the-job training. A minimum of 110 hours of training per participant is provided. As some of this training is provided as on-the-job learning, participants receive well over 200 hours of training.
For the Cemetery and Rail-Trail cjp's the modules covered will come from 15596VIC - the Certificate I in Vocational Studies; RTD02 - the Conservation and Land Management Training Package; and 15494 VIC - the Certificate I in Transition Education.
The modules covered are:
 | NCS 003 - Job Seeking Skills. |
 | RTC2701A - Follow OHS procedures. |
 | RTC1301A - Operate basic machinery and equipment. |
 | 14808 - Senior First Aid - (Level 2). |
 | VBG 768 - Recreation and Leisure. |
In accordance with our contract with the Community Jobs Unit, Department for Victorian Communities, we are not charging cjp students any fees or charges for this training - it is free.

 | "DRIVESAFE" LEARNER DRIVER PROGRAM
Drivesafe is a 10 week program where students learn Victorian Road Law so that can pass their Learner's Permit Test at VicRoads.
Students not only learn in the classroom, but are taken to intersections, roads etc to help make the connection with road law theory and real life road situations.
A free practise Learners Test conducted at VicRoads is included in the program.
Essential materials: VicRoads Road to Solo Driving book. This book is available at VicRoads and newsagents for approximately $13.95.

 | VBG 768 RECREATION AND LEISURE (from 15494 VIC-The Certificate I in Transition Education)
This module is being offered to Damascus College students as part of the Victorian Certificate in Applied Learning (VCAL). Students themselves will not be charged a fee by HighAbility for these modules.

 | Introductory Auslan (Australian Deaf Sign Language) courses are held on a regular basis. |
